The only one I've actually heard is Temnozor, which is good. Figure you can't go wrong with Falkenbach and Nokturnal Mortum eh?

Sun of the Sleepless/Nachtmahr split & Lunar Aurora - Elixir of Sorrow are good.

Get the Falkenback, Nokturnal Mortum, Temnozor, Thorr's Hammer (that EP is fucking incredible), and I picked randomly on the last.

Edit : Or you could get Odemarkens Son or something.

Everything Nokturnal Mortum has done is mandatory so you should get that one. Same with everything Temnozor' has done. Then I picked Thorr's Hammer and Saint Vitus because both those albums rules very much. The last one was harder, I have only heard O Solitude of the rest but I picked Falkebach because O Solitude isn't that good while what I have heard from Falkenbach (not that album though) has been great.

Don't get that Falkenbach CD, it's very boring and monotonous.
I voted Lunar Aurora and Pantheist; I'm pretty certain that you'd enjoy Lunar Aurora, it has that "organic" and "flowing" feel if you know what I mean ;)
I might sell you my copy of O Solitude if you're interested btw, I haven't decided if I like it yet.

SAINT FUCKING VITUS
THORR'S HAMMER
Nokturnal Mortum
Temnozer
and everyone else is picking falkenbach, so sure, why not

On second thought, the Dolorian album sounds interesting as well. The Metal Archives people seem to be loving it, at least... And the two guys that have reviewed it seem to know what they're talking about. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to doom, though, so I'm not sure...

Well, you've heard all of these already right?

Hahahaha....I'm just assuming that not a single person in this thread has heard the Scald yet because it should be at the top of your list.

Thorr's Hammer is good, if only to own something rather unique and special.

Pantheist is excellent, and certainly more interesting than the Falkenbach (which is also a must have so it just goes to show how phenomenal the Pantheist really is). And I only compare the two because somebody else did already. :p

Avoid Skyforger - you wouldn't like it. But if you do, I can recommend lots better power folk metal than that.

I'll let you pick the fifth yourself. I have the Saint Vitus but I barely listen to it so I can't really judge it (yet).

yeah, the Irish Scald rules. When is that super weird instrumental thing coming out?

I didn't think too ighly of the Pantheist, but I think it's because I compared it to Skepticism, Until Death OVertakes Me, Thergothon, and Disembowelment, who are all far superior.

I went for the Lunar Auror CD and the Sun of the Sleepless/Nachtmahr split, typical insider tips... Latest Lunar Aurora output named "Zyklus" is even more jaw-dropping, four lenghty concept-tracks of corrosive, challenging and uncompromised black metal without a trace of self-perpetuation. These guys will never cease to amaze me and, hell, they already have another album in the pipeline for April :worship:

This Falkenbach CD sounds polished as fuck and turns up being a set of very predictable songs after very few spins. Now, I've never been a big Falkenbach enthusiast anyway, so you can probably skip my word!

Ellestin, you need to hang out here more. I agree.

Tough but here is my choices:

Lunar Aurora - Elixir of Sorrow
Scald - Will of The Gods Is Great Power
Pantheist - O Solitude
Dolorian - Dolorian
Thorr's Hammer - Dommedagsnatt

"V" is by far the best album of that list. Its just a fuckin classic. In my top 3 St Vitus albums for sure.
Compared to "Born Too Late", its more DOOM for sure, in terms of speed and feeling. The riffs are more "monolithic" and the compositions are a lot better, the catchier songs more catchy (in a good way), like "Living Backwards", and the doom songs more doomy. It has also the ultimate hangover hymn - "When Emotion Dies".
Next on that list are Scald. We talked about them. PERFECT METAL. EPIC METAL.
