HELP ON NEW BLACKLIST ALBUM!!

Hello guys! I´m producing my first studio album and need some help!
I´m happy with almost the entire mix (is not mastered, only a L3 for volume) drums sound good to me unleast the motherfuckin snare! I´m afraid we tuned it so hi and it can´t fit with the rest of the drums. It needs more punch. I have almost all comercial plugins: Waves, Sonnox, Sonitus, Steinberg.... so if there´s some plugin which could help I will thank you a lot!
Also I have problems with guitars, they could sound much better, they have no pluggin, just a hi pass on 70 Hz. Guitar tracks are quadtracked (2x 5150 and 2x XXX). I´ve read a post recomending "The C4 Andy Sneap technique" but I can´t find it, if some of you may put the link!

the C4 thing is basically using 1 band of the MB comp to compress the low mids.

This mix sounds good to me overall, maybe add a little bit of presence to the guitars.

The mix is pretty dense, but I don't think it sounds too muddy.

Any recommendations on snare and guitars? Which bands of Eq shuld be boosted??? I search for a sound like last Chimaira album.

I´m really dissapointed with snare´s sound, the rest of the drumms sound good, but snare sound like a 200$ demo.

Comparing with other´s band sound, guitars need more presence I guess, any of you use freefilter or another eq-copy plugin for mastering???

dude duplicate the snare track and use waves pitch shift to pitch shift the one snare track lower. that worked for me!

when you are satisfied with the snare sound just export the track on 0db without the waves l3 (There must be no plugins on the master bus when you export it) so that i can maximize it when i master it for you! dude i love that song man! the mastering is going to make that song a lot more clear. so just mail me when you get the chance.

Cool song mate, those guitars really do need bringing out clarity wise I feel. Snare isnt too shabby. I don't know how accurate my advice can be on the guitars without hearing them raw though. I don't know how much you would be willing to lend out but we can have a crack at the snare/guitars or master at your will.

Hey guys! I´m back! After two days trying to find a good snare tone and improving guitars a vocals I´ve reached a mix very close to the final version.
I trust in your discretion, here it is the link:

The song is called "Behold the New Flesh", I´ll post it instead of the other cause it has the improvements mentioned before.
In this version I´ve raised the low-gutural vocals and eq´ing with more treble for gettin more presence and same to the guitars, I realized the mix is quite dark and opaque comparing to other band´s albums. So now I´m at the point of:
1. To Correct the treble and presence missing, because probably my nearfields are giving me more treble than thay really have
2. To Leave this for mastering, and try to boost general treble levels when I master it.

What do you think??
Any of you know a good overdrive-distortion plugin for bass?? The playing is not very accurate and so it´s not going to sound very clear I prefer a distortion who hides the execution a bit.

I really dig the production and the song! I agree that the guitars could us e a little more tweaking in the EQ dept. But still, it sounds great i think. Post here when the album is done, id like a copy of the cd for sure!

If you use protools for mixing, then you can't go wrong with the free sansamp plugin they're offering at the moment.

No, I´m mixing with Sonar 7. Thanks for the comments, it really gives me a breath for going forward with the album.
I search for a drive like the bass on Fear Factory albums Obsolete and Archetype in fact.

I am trying to master my stuff and I´m quite lost, the chain I use is (all waves plugins, except BBE):
1. LinEq boosting some fr to taste, as the mix is quite opaque, I boosted Hi fr.
2. LinEq with all bands bypassed except the low band who´s got a HPF in 30 Hz (I think those fr and below don´t add anything interesting to the mix, only becomes dirtier)
3. BBE Maximizer
4. LinMB Multiband compressor
5. L2, I´ve got L3 ultramax.but I prefer L2 interface.

What do you thing, there´s other way better to master metal????

My friend you have a present in you email.......the answers to all your questions ahahaha. The file is big cause it is a wav file, 44,1 and 16 bits I guess, the original is much bigger, 48.000 and 24 bits. I thought you will get better results with a full quality version.
Tell me what about my chain in mastering.....I´M a complete ignorant in this field....
