hey lads,
im on the hunt for a small firewire desk / interface now that xmas has come and im no longer broke as fuck
this is more of a portable setup im after
i use logic 9
i have a white macbook and i'd like to use the firewire port (i presume its firewire 400) so i'd like to take advantage of that
i'd like it to have phantom power in the event that i need it
inputs - around 8 - 10
i don't need on desk VU's
a decent price
i've noticed some desks have 2 firewire outputs on the back. whats the second one for?
or if not a desk recommend me an interface with firewire support and phantom power
obviously at a very reasonable price. im by no means a professional engineer as a lot of you know, just what i taught myself and what i learned in 2 years of rock school in dublin - im more down the production end of things but i'd like to get more experience on using a desk / large interface because i dont trust in a lot of irish engineers. i've seen some right idiots in the studios here in dublin
i would call myself a semi pro, not an amateur - i know my way around my daw very well, i know how to use my plugins, midi gear etc and how to mic up gear blah blah
this desk is so that i can start mic'ing up a drum kit, chances are its going to suck until i get some practice doing it so im not after a very expensive large desk/interface - and i will prob be re-triggering off a lot of the kit like the snare & kick and blending the toms etc - you's get the idea what im after
again: 8-10 in's, firewire 400 (i think), phantom power & a good price desk or interface
cheers sneapians - and welcome to the ho ho factor - hope a lot of you are drunk
