I started playing guitar about 10 months ago and I think I've gotten pretty good at playing other peoples stuff but I don't know any theory or anything, I have a guitar teacher but he's kind of a tool and doesn't really teach me anything. So, would you recommend me some books on theory or perhaps another method for me to learn it.

Take a class in school if at all possible, i took a theory class in high school, it helped a lot, i plan on taking another one now that im in college.

Search the net there is heaps of info out there. The www.harmony-central.com discussion forums also has heaps of info and people who know what they are talking about.

Also, you probably want to stop paying that teacher and find another one. No sense in wasting money on someone that isn't helping you.
