do you still read AOE?

i keep forgetting to make a post about ian p and myself going to kecksburg and seeing/experiencing a MYSTERY HILL.

but i will, i think, if only because i highly suggest you go to see a MYSTERY HILL, any MYSTERY HILL. or gravity hill, but i like the former name. better.

hi nick
i got laid off and am now exceptionally broke, so i couldn;t afford to take a drive like i had planned.
i do still check out AoE.
What is a mystery hill? i feel like i know from some past experience that I can't quite put my finger on.

that's understandable, and i remember you posting that here, and that sucks.

or is it good?

mia is right, it's a hill where something is awry with your POV and it appears that a car, when parked in neutral, is rolling uphill.

it helps that these are in the middle of nowhere (there are two within a 1/2 mile in rural PA) and i think the effect is really unsettling.

i was expecting a slow crawl, but the car was zooming up and backwards @ 15 mph or so.

to make things creepier, ian and i were taking pictures outside of the car. the instant i snapped a pic of him, with his back to a very thickly-weeded ravine, a strange hissing noise came from back there. it almost sounded mechanical, and it was probably fireworks in the distance, but it effectively made us stop taking pictures in that direction.

i'm not sure if there are any of these close to you, but i'd assume you'd already know about it if there were any well-publicized spots...

The one in Santa Cruz isn't all that cool really. The only neat thing about it is when you hang from this one bar that is straight up and down you end up at a 45 degree angle. It is all right.
