Bruce harmonizes Universe.... and it is about something brighter than a thousand suns, and the opposite...why, maybe a BLACK HOLE!!!

Other than the STUNNING brucie vox I found the song mostly not so exciting, mostly.

It's funny... I read such similar notions on some maiden board I checked out, in my quest for lyricses.

Preface:
I know I am not a fanboy. I do not eat up everything a band puts out. I can clearly distinguish between good and bad music. Boring and not boring.

Point:
I just find these songs REFRESHING. There are these...subtle changes (and some not to subtle).
I remember when that riff first riff kicked in, I thought, "ehh", but before I got to the third "h", the riff changed. Then the similar/different comes in and the alternation kicks in. Then you think the song is set... a slow part comes in. Then back to the first, then a new riff entirely! and ah! There are just... all these changes. I LOVE THAT.

Even in Benjamin Breeg, which is by all means, at first glance... just a standard rock song. But listening to the music, all these little changes, and guitar tweeks, drum fills... they're everywhere.
Also, the solos are real step up in this album so far.

You're right about refreshing though, when the song started off I loved it, and when the heavy riff comes in, etc, great stuff. But then it comes to more of what they've been doing lately that I'm not so particularly fond of.. it's just that the songs really seem to lose all their energy the longer they go on. I thought the solo did a great job bringing it up back there in the 2nd half, but then it stepped back down again.

oh, it's all fair to have your preference. I just try to use any reply to rant about Maiden because I love them so!

And I definitely know what you mean about long songs losing energy. Boy-o.


On a separate note, I am making a squid for that contest thing and it is nearly done!
