Hey there

Hey, Greg - I was in Atlanta a lifetime ago, back in '90 when the N.A.B. convention was held there. Is the city still as pretty and friendly as I remember it?

Interesting times - I don't remember the name of the center the convention was at, but the Grateful Dead were playing at the Omni while we were there. Lots of fun - got up Sunday morning and went out - came back and the place was a sea of tie-dye. Only thing I wanted to do and didn't was take a tour of CNN.

Sadly the only time I went to Atlanta was when I was driving through while evacuating for the Hurricane. What fun. What should have been about a 4 hour drive turned into 12. Don't quote me but didn't they have to change the driving age for teenages around there becaue so many were getting hurt? There were some shows I wanted to go to there but like I said, we didn't have a car so we were going to take a train. Well Amtrak went from SAvannah to Washington, D.C. and then to Atlanta. No thanks.

You're right about Savannah though. Its great if you are a tourist or a senior. Then its perfect. But you can't be a transplant. Its too hard. Im used to hustle and bustle. But I will say that the people were sooooo nice that I worked with. They used to mess with me and call me a Yankee but all in jest. I would visit again but never live there.

Certain parts of the city are beautiful..but a lot has gone downhill with mayor Franklins reign.
The CNN tour didn't used to be that great...mind you I went when I was 13. The Omni was the shit..but it was old and outdated. I saw the final major event ever to be held there, a 4 1/2 hour Metallica show.

Ok, don't laugh. Like I said, I like a lot of different bands. Here are some: Warrant, Poison, Motley Crue, Type O, Life of Agony, Fear Factory, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Danzig, White Zombie, Iron Maiden and, of course, Anthrax. There are some bands that I like only a few songs or only one album like Helloween, Death Angel, AFI, Staind.

In my own experience, the only time I have ever actually worried at a concert was seeing Pantera. I saw them three times. Once at a small club - I was near the front, I believe the first riff played and I was at the back of the floor, turned around and completely confused. That was pretty funny. I saw them at Oz Fest at Giant Stadium. The crowd went crazy. The were running from the second tier, jumping down on to the field. It was actually scary. But the worst was when I saw them with, I believe, White Zombie. That was another arena concert. Same thing - Pantera went on and people were jumping from the second tier to the floor and someone actually died at that show. Not cool. We never found out if he was trying to jump over and fell or was just standing there and when everyone rushed down the stairs, he got caught up in it and was accidentally knocked over. He fell and hit his head and that was it.

I do have a story to share. I don't like Overkill NOT because of their music because to be hones, I don't think I've ever heard a full album. In '89 or '90, so we are going back 15 or 16 years now, they came here to do a signing. I'll never forget the day. Still have pictures of some of my friends on line. I wasn't on line to see them though because I didn't like or dislike them, just had no interest. So after they leave, next day, whatever, I go into the record store and find out that on a Warrant poster (mind you Warrant was the band to die for back then) they circled four of the guys and wrote D I C K over their heads. As I type this story, I laugh. So stupid. I am super stubborn sometimes. Maybe I should give them a second chance. 16 years is a long time to hold a grudge against a band. Ok, I talked myself into it. I'm going to buy something this weekend.

Sorry I write such long posts. Its a sickness I think. The need to be very thorough.

Michele

P.S. On the subject of music but not band related, anyone ever see Stephen Lynch the comedian?

Thrashard925, I live in Bayonne, exit 14A. From what I have heard, this is the only place that you can say "I'm at exit 14A" and people will know what you mean. I also heard on a Geico commercial of all places that wherever you live and you are going to the shore, you say "I'm going to the beach" but in Jersey everyone says they are going "down the shore."

I forget what Turnpike Exit I was near. Parkway exits, Im more farmiliar with...

Yea that is soooo true about the shore. We never say beach or anything..

Actually, Ive always referred to it as the Shore when we were not there. But when at the hotel.. Id be like... lets go down to the ocean or beach..being the sand area

The Parkway and Turnpike is MAJOR Bullshit. These toll booths are nothing but a scam and causes lots of traffic.

The real truth about these toll booths is that they were suppose to be removed 15 years ago or so.

When the Parkway was originally build, they were running out of money to build these roads. SO they came up with the idea that placing Toll Booths would help pay off the Bonds and shit. The Toll was .25 cents.

Once the bonds were all payed off, they were like fuck that. We are making wayyyyyy too much money on these Toll Booths and we are going to keep them.

So once all payed off they not only didnt remove the Tolls, THEY RAISED THE PRICE from .25 to .35 cents

OMG, that raised fucking hell. People started throwing bloddy tampons and used condoms into these Toll Booths.. People including my mom were paintig their Quarters Red and with nail polish. --- If you ever come across a quarter that was painted red or pink... It most likely came and was used for the GSPW Toll Booth.

I hate the turnpike too but I feel more comfortable on the parkway. When I moved, I took I-95 from Jersey to Georgia and only got lost twice, once in North Carolina due to a detour and once in, you guessed it, Jersey. How sad.

Stephen Lynch was on last night. I love that special on Comedy Central. I saw him a few months ago when he was doing a taping for his new CD which should be out in the fall. Its going to have new stuff and some old stuff too, I believe. It was awesome. The place was so small and only held 150 people. So even if you were all the way in the back, it was still close. I don't know how he can keep a straight face when he is introducing those songs. I crack up even though I've heard them so many times already.

Ok now were all wondering ... post your picture!!!!! i will search for the Pic thread we did a long time ago............

Talk about putting a girl on the spot. ;)

If you find the thread, I'll post my picture BUT I'm not some mysterious hot chick sitting behind the monitor, just so you know NOT that I am a hag either. You'll just have to see for yourself.

Michele

Ok, I can't figure out how to upload a picture. When I click on the mountains I get a small box that pops up. Its a script prompt and it asks what image to be formatted. I've never uploaded pictures to a post before so I don't know how to do it. So if you want to see the picture, maybe you can walk me through the steps. If not, then don't worry about.

ThraxDude, um, I went to your homepage and saw your pictures otherwise I would have asked to see what you look like. I like to know who I'm talking to.
