I finally managed a batch of cd purchases with Evergrey heading the list...picked up In Search of Truth and Inner Circle, and while I haven't properly digested it yet, I'm already blown away. Inner Circle's confessional at the end really, really freaks me out everytime I hear it.

:worship:

SWEET - glad you are on-board with them Dave!!

The crazy thing is, they get better upon each consecutive listen - trust me.
These guys have the best balance of soulful solos/melodies and HEAVY CRUNCHING & driving guitar riffs..... I like to rock out to music bigtime but am not really a 'frequent headbanging' kind of guy..... but during that last track, When The Walls Come Down, right after the preacher finishes up with saying 'We... have sinned..."

and then they just GO OFF..... I can't help but wanna whip my melon around till it flies right off my neck.....:loco: :headbang:

And yeah that last track is just SO emotional......

The thing that gets me about Tom Englund, the singer, is that compared to virtuosos in bands, he doesn't have the quote-unquote 'best' singing voice - but the guy CONVEYS EMOTION in a way that I can't help but FEEL every time I listen.

You can feel the fright and anguish in the narrator of In Search of The Truth in the track where they come to get him again, and he keeps saying "please don't touch me...... I want to go home..."

AWESOME stuff.....

The closing track on The Inner Circle is the perfect conclusion to the album, and some of the best use of spoken dialogue this side of Pink Floyd...Different Worlds is also amazing, outstanding keyboard work and that solo after the part you mentioned gives me the chills...

As you can tell, huge Evergrey fan here...
