Right there with you. The Hellraiser and Blackjack are two of my favorite guitars. While Loomy can't do anything but good in my eyes, this new one doesn't rank too high on my list.

1. An ash body? I've talked to some boys that known a thing about gee-tars and all say an ash is a weaker/cheaper wood.

2. While some like the simple body design (looks like it came right out of the tree), it's not my thing.

I like the looks of the new one (I may even get one) but I think it would have
been a lot cooler if it was black, or solid white with a black binding on the body

I don't know about Ash with 707's? I have the current Hellraiser 7 and even with a Mahogany body and neck it's a pretty bright guitar.
gonna have to play one :kickass:

i like the new one because of the all maple neck / fret board, but the blackjack does look sleeker with that polished finish

Do you have the Black or TransRed one? I heard my mates black hellraiser and it was pretty dark in comparison to my C1, which is also Mahogany, but has a Maple top.
I don't think the brightness will be too overbearing on the new one.

Ash - especially light or "swamp" ash - is an extremely desirable wood for tone, as it's very resonant. It's not as expensive as mahogany or maple, and has a slightly different tone, but the ash Strats and Teles from the '50s and '60s are highly prized for their tone, and most major builders (except Jackson, for some reason) make some nice ash instrument. (Including Anderson and PRS). I'm actually glad there's an ash 7 string out there now, and the maple board just adds to it...

Well, I now stand corrected. :)
