Holy crap Prague was awesome

They don't compare really in my view. Rome was the world's most important city for a millennia or more, and nowadays it's just (I read this somewhere) "the most gorgeous smear", which is quite fitting.

Prague is OK. Some parts are interesting, the majority is ugly as hell and it happens to have pretty good beer.

Romans are nice, DW. I think the ignorant tourists who have no business being there (you know, the ones who go just because it would be cool to go, but can't appreciate anything they see or do or try...almost always Americans by the way...) are the ones who complain that Romans aren't friendly. I'm an elitist so I'll share this quick episode: I once had an obnoxious American couple come up to me and ask me where the McDonalds was because they liked the coffee better than what they could find in Rome....(yep really happened).

Those are the people who complain about Romans being stuffy, but it's only because they have no idea about being cordial, trying to acclimate in the sociocultural sense..that sort of thing. So, no, I find Romans to be quite friendly to tourists, and don't even get me started if you're a guest in one of their homes. Hospitality of the utmost sincerity.

Yeah I've never seen anyone from the south actually be rude or anything. Everyone will pretty much give you the shirt off their backs, at least my friends there will.

I don't think it's anything to do with the people, but rather the system there. It's fucking hard to get anything done there, and when you're on vacation that can get pretty frustrating if you're a tourist. For me, Rome is the best city on earth but I can see why people get frustrated with it, even non-idiot tourists.
