HOLY CRAP THE NEW NEVERMORE ALBUM COMES OUT TOMORROW

Just got my copy in the mail from CM Distro today. Nice box! And shirt! Listened to and the maiden spoke, and immediately fell in love with its insanity. Definitely an enjoyable one, and even the sillier tracks like emptiness unobstructed, and your poison throne, the rest of the tracks more than compensated for it. Bottom line was that it's lovely to hear new and refreshing NM material. Possible pics to come on later, but all depends on my laziness.

Finally bought my copy. I went to Best Buy and they had ONE copy left, so I was like:

Sadly, it was the only Nevermore album they had, but that's OK because I already have the rest of them.

Anyway, I feel that this album is basically a mash-up of Dead Heart In a Dead World and Enemies of Reality, with a little Loomis solo project and Dane project thrown in for good measure.

I already know how you guys feel about those two albums (Dead Heart and Enemies), so that should tell you how I feel about this album. :)

The guys put out a very solid album, but I took a look at the writing credits and Loomis and Dane wrote the entire record by themselves, and it really sounds like it. After the solo albums came out, I feel like both of those guys finally established themselves and defined their own styles, if that makes any sense.

Again, it's a very solid album, but it doesn't follow up to Godless. But that doesn't mean that it's a necessarily bad album. It just means that it's different. I can understand.

The production is very good, but it sounds kind of weird, maybe a little too compressed. I still feel like Godless is an, overall, stronger album from top to bottom.

All in all, I like the album, and I can't wait to catch the guys on tour!

I love you!

<3

Okay, I've listened to the entire album twice now.

I'm going back to listening to GaGa.

See you guys on tour! <3:hart:<3

Andrew bought the album for me about 5 minutes ago!!! Yeeees!!!
Thank you!!!

I'm going to drag out the 'ol boombox and play it while I shower. Yup. Gonna clean wounds and heal with the world's best medicine. :)
I've heard nothing but the instrumenal used for the contest, so I'm stoked!!!

Holy shit that video is too badass. That girl is batshit crazy genius. Mighty ugly, but batshit crazy genius nonetheless. You can watch her videos on mute and enjoy that sense of imagination equally.

Take out the vocals and it sounds like an Ace of Base song. Well actually it still sounds like Ace of Base with the vocals.

Digi-pack arrived in the mail a week or two ago. Doubt I'll bother much with the guitar stuff, but cool packaging! TOC didn't quite batter fuck outtae me as much as TGE did upon the first few listens, but it's still great. And the Maiden Spoke..., Emptiness.., The Blue Marble.., She Comes In Colours... All sublime. Great work NM.

Been playing this album all weekend in my car driving 6 hours this weekend.

I gotta tell you, it's awesome listening to albums with fresh ears after avoiding all reviews/critics for months now,
My review will come soon :)

I amazed that you were able to show so much self-control LOL....I couldn't resist listening to the tunes on youtube, but I did manage to stop myself from downloading and burning a copy. I also weaned myself off the clips for a few weeks before the release, and I was so happy to finally get the official package and then listen to it in full quality. Each song gives me its own feeling and they all get better with each listen!

You know, it wasn't easy
I literally scanned every thread here for any mention of the new album, refused to open certain threads, didn't discuss it with certain people, and stayed away from any MP3 that was offered to me.

There are certain things that give me absolute joy, and one of them is to be able to buy one of my favorite bands' new CD the day it came out and listen to it with virgin ears like I used to do 'back in the day' :)

I hear ya Karen! That is actually exactly what i did. I didnt want to hear the leaks, didnt read the threads about it, etc. It was pretty awesome when i finally got it today and popped it in without any real idea what was gonna be heard! It was awesome!

Yea, I never like to spoil the ritual of getting a new album, either.

I like the Obsidian Conspiracy. It has a completely different vibe from the others, as usual. Each album feels different. So far, I just feel that the vocals are more toned down than usual. I wouldn't call them dull by any means, but they're sorta lacking the zeal that I'm used to hearing.
I still love the album...further analysis will happen after I've listened to it a couple more times.

Yeah. You won't find a bigger critic of TGE than me, and I can't go that far.

Keep in mind this is John, he tends to get excited and state opinions REALLY strongly.

I've only had this for two days (bad fanboy), and I know almost all the words already. It didn't blow me away on first listen, but then again you really can't appreciate anything Nevermore does with just the one listen. It's a solid release that still needs time to sink in; I don't think I'm ready to start comparing it to the other NM releases, but I find something to like about all of them. A comparison to EoR, at least in terms of subject matter, is pretty appropriate; both albums seem to have a unifying thread running through them, though I'm not quite sure what TOC's is yet. I've got the day off tomorrow, maybe I'll figure it out :loco:

I noticed WD's voice seems to have kept the goth rock influence from his solo album. Pretty sweet.
