I've listened to it several times and it doesn't grab me like the others. There are some really good parts in it but something is missing and I don't know what.

I got my copy of The Obsidian Conspiracy, along with Triptykon´s Eparistera Daimones in the mail yesterday. I gave the Nevermore album a listen last night, and I´m very satisfied with it, to say the least. It surpassed my (quite high) expectations. I think all the songs on it are very strong and memorable, my favourites being And the Maiden Spoke, She Comes in Colors and Moonrise (Through Mirrors of Death). I hope I´m not coming off as this total fanboy, but this is just how I feel about the new album of my favourite band:Spin:
My expectations for the Triptykon album are also very high. Although, I don´t expect it to be as good as Celtic Frost´s Monotheist(which I think is among the best metal albums of the last decade) I think another high quality metal album from Tom Fisher is a reasonable demand.
Yep, I listened to the new album, and I instantly thought the same thing.
I put the solo album on immediately after listening. The two are very similar, but there's nothing really wrong with that, haha. It's just a more mellow Nevermore sound.
Yes! Its one reason why the record is sitting rather well with me. His vocals are more subdued yet very powerful in their own right. Theres three songs that arent really hitting me though. Your Poison Throne, Blue Marble, and the title track. Maybe i need to listen to them more to get into them. The rest of the record is pretty damn amazing though!
