Holy fucking fuck.

Wheel of Time isn't worth the slog.

I actually really enjoyed the first couple of books, but towards book 5-6 (can't remember) I wanted to kill Jordan.

Though I am looking forward to the Dan Simmons movies. Wheel of Time would just put me to sleep.

ME TOO!

I named my dog Shrike after possibly my favorite character ever!

Two more books to go, Maximillian!
(well, two and a half)

Oh yeah, Karen, looks like they're gonna do the Illium/Olympos books and Hyperion. I like both series quite well.

Jordan - First four books are amazing, the next billion suck ass. Book 10 actually had three chapters on how the characters dealt with an infestation of weevils in their wheat! Characters were all idiots and by the end of the last book I read (11 I think) I was actually rooting for the dark one to wipe them all of the face of the earth.

Song of Ice and Fire - Excellent! Characters that have depth and plots that make sense. GRRM also has a good series of books called Wild Cards about how superheroes would actually work in a realistic world which I also like, and his SciFi stuff (Tuf Voyaging) is great.

Hyperion - Read the first book and liked it but then split with my ex and she took the rest of the books. Is it worth picking up the others?

Any one read Vampire$ or Armour (same author)? Try them, you won't be disappointed.

Glenn, this morning i was at the Christ Clinic early and they were having their daily "devotions" and I came very close to chanting "Master Rahl guide us. Master Rahl teach us. Master Rahl protect us" etc.

Is it weird that I like to picture characters in books I read as characters from video games?

I pictured Eddard as the human from Everquest on PS2.

Tywin as Basch from FF12. Jon as Akihiro from Persona 3.

It's weird.

Not sure if that's weird so much as unusual. I usually picture the characters as the author describes them; lacking a physical description, I just borrow some random celebrity.
