I'd just found out that the Lord Slough Feg is playing this friday here in
Indpls at the Melody Inn with The Gates Of Slumber, Devil to Pay and
Bible Of The Devil. I have heard good things about this band any thoughts?

Slough Feg is awesome. Old-school stuff. Like a mix between Old-Maiden and Thin Lizzy, with a weird Irish/Celtic twist....but heavy too. If you like your basic old-school Les Paul/Marshall stack metal band, they are for you. I think the bands I sited best describe them....

Anyway, I've seen them quite a few times (as they are from here) and I highly recommend you go!!! Can't speak to the other bands.

I have heard a lot of praise for LWSF, and I checked the band for some tunes but never made me jump for it. The vox in clean and is well classic metal influenced, so go for it (I bet is not much expensive) and you already like the other band.

Okay instead of starting up another thread i'll give my review here.

The first band of the night was Bible Of The Devil from chicago i have to
admit i did not like this band when they played here a couple of years ago
at punkrock night but these guys have shown some crazy improvement to
me they sounded like a cross between Iron Maiden and a little bit of motorhead and high on fire to the mix. There solos were amazing and abundant! And the bass vocalist stated that there last song was a cover
of Manilla Road's Necropolis i really enjoyed this band quite a bit highly recommended listening for UMOS brigade!

Then the second band was local stoner rockers Devil To Pay yet another fine
set from these guys they put a more modern spin on the doom metal circuit
kinda of a cross between Kyuss, Sabbath with a blues tinge to them. Good
solid riffing and powerful drumming ruled the night with these dudes!

The third band was The Weird Lord Slough Feg one word describes them
"LOUD!!!" i mean the dude was like "Turn the amp all the way up i dont care
about the feedback!" a nice blend of doomish 70's metal and Sweet like
70's rock the mainman reminded me of a younger Ted Nugent kind of looked like he had the same
guitar as mr. nuge himself and his singing was in storytelling way much in
the vien of Jethro Tull imho but man my ears are still ringing after that set.
You guys were right as always another quality band thanks for the tip
about these guys!

The last band was the mighty The Gates Of Slumber due to TWLSF playing
a longer set than anticipated Karl and co. played for about 40 mins but in
that short time i got to see my pal Chris really coming along on his drumming
skills since he rejoined the band man that dude is a beast behind that kit!
Plus Jason's thundering bass playing in the background was just right in adding the gloom and doom of this band and Karl's solos and guitar playing
was nothing short of spectacular im a bit biased but i for one dont listen to
doom much and i see a really good metal band that's on the rise and im telling
you folks watch for this band in the future. Back on topic it was a good evening
for metal in Indiana it's a shame I can't go to that festival to see them and
Manilla Road in chicago.
