OK... so let me first clarify, so you and I can avoid one of our three page back and forths, that I'm sure we'd both just as soon avoid. That being said, even if it was a "PR move" does that really matter if spreads awareness to kids about breast cancer?
This.gonna disagree - the REAL Hottest Chicks In Metal work for Glenn at ProgPower
Just curious, are you connected to the tour in any way? I'm under the impression you work in the industry.
Pathetic.
As if "female fronted bands" don't already have enough stigma as being a gimmick, this takes it over the top.
I suppose kudos to the charity aspect of this tour, but this will do little for their credibility.
Since this is REVOLVER, I would assume Lacuna Coil were one of the top bands asked to be a part of this, and most likely declined.
Finally, I have no idea which girl belongs to which band aside from the IN THIS MOMENT gal, but the only remotely attractive one was the one all the way to the right (For what it's worth)
Cool. We're almost on the same page for a change.haha no. And fyi, I think it's ultimately a dumb ass tour title and a dumb-looking poster. It's sexist, appealing to dorks who would otherwise not know what a woman looks like in person, etc. But I do think it's cool that it is at least charitable so I give it props on that accord. I never said I 100% disagreed with you though holmz.
Wouldn't you think that a tour called "The Hottest Chicks of Metal" would have actual hot chicks ?

QFT this is so true
Best Band on the Whole Damned Tour!I would go see Sister Sin
It exists because the "Hottest Chicks in Metal" issue that Revolver publishes out once a year is apparently always their best selling issue. It's a money maker. Their editor even wrote this all is his editor's note in one of the issues, along with the fact that they really don't even like doing the issue (except to see how much they can get the girls to strip down for the photo shoots). It's really kinda pathetic.edit) It honestly amazes me that people choose to focus on them and their looks/choice of clothing/make-up/whatever rather than the reason why a tour with this name exists in the first place and why it's marketed the way it is.
I'm pretty sure that WAS the "Hottest Chicks in Metal" Tour by the same folks at Revolver. No "kind of" needed. This kind of reminds me of that tour in 2007 with Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Stolen Babies/Kylesa/In This Moment. I don't think it had a super cheesy name though, and it was with better headliners who have had longer careers.
I just want to stress I said "kind of".

I'd hope that you find the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition to be sexist and disgusting too because it's really the same concept.
I was really surprised when I heard their asking price initially. In their favor, they have 3 albums out, have toured extensively and seem to have been pretty well received by the more commercial side of the metal community. Given their track record, I guess booking agents are going to ask for as much as they can get. Still, their asking price seems a bit steep to me for a band that has only been around about 4 years. Maybe I'm being naive. It's kind of interesting though, how ITM and Kylesa opened that tour and now they're either HUGE or, at the very least, really really hyped.
That would explain why I haven't heard anything from them in awhile. Kind of makes me wish they'd get a new drummer. I really liked them.Stolen Babies went on hiatus when their drummer joined Dillinger I believe.
Thanks. I guess all of us women who like metal (or want to do anything in a male-dominated community) should just give up now, because it's obviously never going to make a difference.Well, it is sexist, but it's also "a man's world" and the ultimate irreconcilable truth is that no matter how feminist we can get, we're always going to be in a patriarchal alpha-male society.![]()
