How are them Really Nice Compressors?

Buy it, or save my money? What are they good on?
I picked one up recently. I don't have anything high end to compare them to, but for $175us you can't really go wrong! I've been using it on clean vox and it sounds quite good. bass guitar sounds good *as long as* you use the "supernice" mode, otherwise the bass distorts pretty nasty. this is a known issue though and covered on their website.

it's got a handy little sidechain too that can take an input signal independent of what actual audio is going through the audio buss (not sure if this is standard for sidechains, I'm kind of new to them).

so, I've used it on bass and vocals and it sounds good.

really nice. Real Good for Vocals and mostly everything else but bass. I would say save money if it was 2 grand but its dirt cheap so saving $170 should not even part of the equation as far as gear is concerned:goggly:

I've actually been using it on almost every mix I've done over the past year or so on background vocals, usually getting around 4-5db of gain reduction happening on the LED's, and using the makeup gain to taste. At the studio I'm doing my mixing at these days, there's a ton of awesome sounding and esoteric compressors, but honestly, there's nothing really that sounds better than the RNC for this application. I don't use it for anything else, though.
