How do i connect 2 firepods?

1) Connect FireWire-slot 2 on FirePod 1 to Fire-Wire-slot 1 on FirePod 2.
2) Connect FireWire-slot 1 on FirePod 1 with your computer's FireWire-slot.
3) Fire everything up. :)

I actually had a ton of trouble "daisy chaining" the two firepods like that. They would sync up for a minute but drop out constantly.

Strangely enough, and I may be the only person this has ever worked for, (a PreSonus tech told me that it WOULD NOT work), I hooked both firepods up separately and put the firewire out of each one into a separate input of my Firewire CardBus. I have a 2 port CardBus, and sent each Firepod into a different firewire port, and it worked magically. Not one problem recording 12+ simultaneous drum tracks.

But, Make sure you download the firmware updates from PreSonus before you try linking them together in any method!

Thanks for posting that. I have this problem on my laptop, but not on my desktop, so I'm going to give this a shot when I get a chance.

I have two Firepods daisy chained. No problems. If I recall, they have a guide for daisy chaining them. Look at Presonus's site.

I have three firepods connected with no issue

firepodA #1 FW output ---> PC
firepodB #1 FW output ---> firepodA #2 FW
firepodC #1 FW output ---> firepodB #2 FW

Make sure you are using the proper input/cable type.

You must use 6 conductor, full size input (which might mean getting a new firewire card) if you plan on using 2. If you are only using the 4 conductor input (like the one on the left in the picture), it won't work.

hmmm, I used 2 daisy chained Firepods with a 4 pin connection to a Ricoh chipset integrated FW bus on my laptop with no problem.

I had to upgrade the firmware on my Firepod to FP10 specs, since my second Firepod was actually an FP10. Did the firmware update, installed the latest drivers, 2.46 IIRC and it was fine.

Yeah, the 2 pins that are omitted in a 6-pin cable are just for bus-powering, so it doesn't affect data transfer rates/consistency ;)

Yeah like I said I may be the only person who couldn't daisy chain firepods and have them work consistently. And I'm the only person I know of that has connected them to separate inputs and had them work.

Could be because I'm using a laptop with a 2.0ghz processor, maybe daisychaining was just overloading my single firewire port? But I'm not sure if that even has anything to do with it. But I have a nice $80 Siig Firewire CardBus with the Texas Instruments chipset, which is pretty much the most compatible firewire card possible. Anyways, no problems hooking them up separately...anybody having problems getting two FP10/firepods connected on their laptop should probably give this a shot
