How do I get this kick drum sound?

It's a very sort of roomy sound, so I'm wondering whether they had a mic on the outside of the kickdrum perhaps?

I just sounds like the room mic's are reasonably loud in the drum mix. It also sounds like good quality pre's and mic's in a half-decent room.

A D112 placed back to front gives this sort of odd but cool results (need a good sounding room tho).

sounds like a d112... really rounded mid-range, I like it. Obviously room sound plays a big part too.
