How do i know if my CD drive took a shit??

It blinks and dont read any disk i put in there?? Nor can i burn with it

My computer says the device is working properly, but its not
Is it burnt out or is there a procedure i need to do, i tried everything i think its just shot

Should i just go buy another CD drive anyway?? Internal or external??
If anyone can help thanks

You can get a nice DVD/CD RW for 20 bucks these days. If it just up and died, there's probably nothing you can do for it. Though, it may just be some dust on the laser.

Take a can of pressurized air, open the drive, and shoot some in there, if you feel like it.
