How do my DIs sound?

I've been wanting to upgrade my audio interface under the impression that the preamps in mine suck compared to that of others. I use a Rig Kontrol 3 that came with Guitar Rig 3 that I got a while back. To my ears, they always sounded dull compared to the DIs I usually hear on this forum.

Anyways, do my DIs sound good? Or would it be worth it for me to upgrade?

Chain: Jackson RR3 with EMG81 > Rig Kontrol 3

Thanks in advance for helping! :D

I think sound is good enough....but too loud, clipping sometimes..may be its internal emg pickup overload?
How much space between pickups and strings?

Thanks for the help guys! ^_^

@ForgotenWarrior6: I think they were about 2 months old when I recorded. They were Elixir Nanoweb 10s. That could be the culprit, but it still sounded dull with new strings in comparison to a Mackie Onyx DI that Jonas(Gubbkuk) posted on here two years ago-- http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1558265/TestDI.wav .

@Metaller07: Thanks! My interface says it's not clipping(it has this indicator that turns red when it does), but whenever I record, it always hits the threshold whenever I strum hard. I tried 3 different batteries for the active EMGs, but it still clips.
By the way, here you go:

@ScootBaloo: Thanks man! :) Sounds alright, but at the same time, feels like something is missing.

Haha thanks Ola! :D I've noticed a lot of stuff in your amp demos is super shiny. I have that gut feeling that cleaning my guitar might brighten my tone. :)

are you using a pad button on your interface? Usually drops gain about 20dB or so and that should get you not hitting 0.0dB when strumming hard.
