How do you make a guitar sound like this?

I'm referring to the lead guitars - they have a unique tone that's different than the rhythm guitars, all the other lead guitars on this record, and really any tone I've ever heard before. It may be a delayed double track.

The rhythm guitars, I'm pretty sure, are just simply palm muted and playing a breakdown rhythm. Then there's some sort of percussive synth in the background that's pitch automated and chopped up all funky.
