How does Opeth rank among the progressive band genre? Death Metal? Folk Metal?

average, the best in the genre, just another band in the genre, or they don't even rank in this genre, or any other opinions

In terms of death/melo-death metal, I'd say Opeth are the best....but they dont really belong in the category to begin with...as theyre not truly death metal.


in terms of Progressive music...thats up for grabs. To me theyre one of teh best...but it's hard to say theyre THE best, my favourite (most of the time...>.>), but that doesn't necessarily mean theyre the best.

im not aware of a "progressive band" genre. id say they rank among the top death metal acts. i wouldnt say theyre a folk band, or could compare to any folk bands really...so i wouldnt even rank them in the folk genre. and id say among modern "progressive rock" bands, theyre certainly one of the more important and unique for their aproach.
