I was expecting much faster connections around the world tbh. The only really decent connections have been the universities which obviously have to be set up that way to deal with the large amounts of people using them at once.

Do you have a download limit where you're at in university? The internet over here at my university is fuckin' quick:

But I have a 1gb download limit, and no mp3s, games etc allowed. Only academic files. Then again, I don't live here.

Shit son, I have been owned! Speedwise at least.

We do have a download limit, 5gb...

...per day. Nothing is restricted except obviously copyrighted material, although everybody seems to torrent the shit out of everything anyway. I don't really torrent much except the occasional movie, so I haven't really made the best use of it tbh.

I live on an island on the mid-coast of Maine. Cable internet runs down the main road of the island, but not down my dirt road off of it, unless we pay $9000. So instead we have cellular internet, which is slower than cable, but still very fast. The only downside is that because it is intended for mobile devices, there is a download/upload limit of 5 GB per month.

Well of course I could pay for faster but what would I need faster internet for? Like, I can have a movie in 20 minutes, music in 60 seconds, and I can stream porn. What else is internet for?

I was just interested to see if regular users in other countries have quicker connections than we've got going on over here. I think once super-mega-crazyfast comes in you'll see the internet start to be used for many more things. For example telephone lines will become obsolete and be replaced with instant high-def video telephony and all tv will be streamed via the internet.

We were discussing video calls with my friend and came to conclusion that it's useless because everybody lies about their current location. Everybody does that.

With mobile phones, yeah. Not as much with home phones.

My uni internet challenged your uni internet to a race and my uni lost:

Perth: 1, Brisbane: 0

Wireless AND with Vonage.

Rancho Cucamonga is getting fiber optic, so... I wish I could afford it.

First things first though, I wish I could afford an apartment.
