How much is your music folder worth in court?

mine isn't worth all that much. all my music is store bought. nothing wrong with having it all on my computer. government can suck my dick hardcore

Actually, apparently it is a copyright violation to just rip it to your computer. Your supposed to buy two copies, one CD and one .MP3 if you want that.

I don't agree all that much with reese's "Stick It To The Man"-cries, but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. You have the right to make backups and copies for personal use of all carriers you buy. Same way it's legal to download a rom if you have the original game cartridge. If it weren't legal, it'd be illegal to make compilation CDs for your car too, for instance.

My music folder isn't even worth one hour of community service. Everything is either store-bought, or downloaded from OCRemix or similar sites (y'know, those sites that host remixes of old video game music.

It's just the twitching deathrattle of an industry that is imploding. The more lawsuits they pursue in such a manner, the quicker they will ensure people will rebel against buying anything.

Most of my collection isn't within suing range, as the companies the artists are on would stand to become bankrupt if they sued anyone in their fan base. I fear no metal label.

Good point, plus if your listening to music off of a major label you probably deserve to be sued even if you did buy it.

Century Media's not a major label?

Anyway, probably more than I'm worth.

True. In most cases, you are even allowed to make backup copies of software. In some EULAs, including Microsoft's I believe, it states that you can install software on a primary PC as well as a laptop, as long as there is only a single user for both computers and they aren't used simultaneously. The fact that you wouldn't be able to make backup copies of music for example, I only have copies in my car JUST IN CASE would cause a fall of the CDR market. Writable discs are mainly used for backing up files, including music.

The fact that they were able to find out and sue her makes me question our privacy laws. Even in Microsoft EULAs, it states that Microsoft will not attempt to receive any information regarding piration meaning, they cannot install a worm or track on your system to make sure that the software is pirated or not, which is why they're only able to up their security (authentication) measures but not eliminate them. They can't check your computer randomly for it is illegal.

But then again, if you're going to download music without the intent to purchase the album, you shouldn't use something stupid like Kazaa. You have to be a fucking retard to use a traditional (direct) P2P network like Kazaa.

Stupid beotch yo with her Beyonce' and motha'fuckin' Ludacris, nigga!

Mine is worth $0. I own all the CD's to the music I have. I do rip them to my computer so I can sync them into my zune. I don't even share music with my friends because none of them listen to the same music I do. Not a single one :( LOL.

i got 50 GB worth of downloaded Metal music. we dont have any stores here that sell this kind of music, absolutley no stores (only arabic).
maybe Virgin store in cairo but probably doesnt sell much of what i listen to..
