it came out to 9250 per song that she was sued for. she actually had over 1000 songs that she was sharing and got only certain ones pinned to her in the court case.
how does a lawsuit make others want to dl more? you are doing something illegal. if you want to keep doing something illegal, so be it. you have no ground to stand on though to say it's wrong of the companies to sue you for stealing their stuff.
as far as ripping music goes, the argument from the prosecuting attorneys was that she couldn't have ripped the songs as fast as she could download them at that time. They didn't, and I would be willing to bet it will be a long time before anyone else does, care about rips of CDs that you bought. (so far as lawsuits go)
