How Obtain this Sound? Video Content Inside

FYI - this isn't metal.
Just curious what you guys think went into this recording.



You can hear some tape warble or something in the very beginning (could be real, could be synthetic). Do you think this was recorded to tape, and really hot to get the distorted tone? There's obviously a lot of reverb or room sound on the piano.

How do you think they got this sound?

honestly ... probably recorded to tape or on a small 4 track cassette then bounced into the DAW

yeah. tallest man has always gotten that old 2 track tape sound. so he probably actually does it. usually tape simulators and tube plugins dont sound as good as the sound hes gotten on his records.

there's tape hiss all over that. probably tape. could get a similar effect with old nasty cassette tape and dirty heads

Any ideas on how to get a sound like this in the digital realm? (AKA plug-ins)

Getting hiss should be pretty easy, but it's the other cool distortions I'm looking for.

izotope vinyl...it's free...and not only sounds like a vinyl, it can make your tracks sound pretty close to this.
