How to hook up two 8 channel preamps to profire 2626

Tried hooking an octane and digimax fs to a profire 2626 today and I couldn't get it to work for the life of me.

In all honestly I have no idea, I typically set the maudio in hosted mode on optical port A as the clock and off we go. This however would make the preamp hooked up to optical port B to go nuts.

I set it to internal clock then both units to external and that didn't work at all.

Noob feeling setting in. Help?

I seem to remember there was an issue with the digimax D8 (which model is yours?)
I personally always used word clock as a sync signal.
I have two 2626 and an ADA8000 hooked together. The main 2626 is the interface and the master clock (sync source=internal, optical port B mode=Adat, sample rate is 44.1, this is important cause anything above 48khz will be s/mux mode).
The second 2626 was set to word clock in external mode. The ADA8000 is in slave/WC in mode.
Never had a single issue. If you decide to use word clock, make sure the last unit in the chain has a word clock termination.
In my case, the ADA8000 doest have a WC out so it can only be the last unit.
Also make sure to use good quality non-bent optical cables, same for the bnc.

Thanks for the help Burny.

So you are running an external word clock generator or hooking them up via word clock/bnc connectors?

I'm using the clock from the first 2626 in the chain, as I said. Word Clock can only travel trough it's own channel afaik so yes, I use the bnc connection. I could probably use the ADAT's internal clock but WC always seemed more reliable to me.
