Hello guys....i want to know how do i cable up my mesa roadster head into my apogee duet to use with my Recabinet Impulse?...

please help me guys...and thank you so much..

you can use the "slave out" or the "fx send" to connect to your soundcard,

then you need a vst host, like cubase, reaper, ploque bidule, etc... to load a ir cab vst, like voxengo boogex...

route the soundcard input to boogex and then fidle around with it

you can read here too:
http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/production-tips/427135-impulse-faq.html

very important, dont connect the speaker out to your soundcard,
and use a speaker or a dummy load connected to the amp!!!

cheers

thank so much man....so i connect my guitar to front input...and one more cable from slave out to my interface..is that how i do it?..and whats the different using fx send or slave out?

and what do u mean by dont use speaker or dummy load connected to the amp?..do i still switch on both switch infront of the head?

thanx alot man

no he meant make sure you use a dummy load. He was saying dont plug the speaker out to the interface. Definantly make sure you have a cab or dummy load connected.

for better sound use dummy load recording output. fx send is preamp output only.

hey, one question.
if i want to record my real VHT amp and then to load impulses with kefir,
i connect my preamp out vht to my presonus firebox line in and, here is my question:

when i am recording amp signal, my amp must be connected to real cab too?

thanks,

yes, absolutely! I you have no load connected, the poweramp tubes will blow.

a dummy load is like a cab without a speaker, but instead a huge resistor for the energy that your amp blows out of the poweramp.

http://www.tedweber.com/atten.htm

you need that only when you want to do "silent recording" with your amp.
otherwise, just hug your rig up like when you play it, and additionl connect the slave out, or fx send to your soundcards input

yes, to a real cab, or a dummy load (like Weber, THC,.....)

There is so much truth in this sentence. And I couldn't believe when a dude once said he had smoked pot inside his amp (even the XXL) either.

Anyways, when you're on it, post some comparison stuff (from slave & fx send outs) with and without the speaker simms also.

EDIT: umm..decided to remove the smiley.

One thing to mention, definitely use the Slave out rather than the FX send, cuz the FX send isn't 100% pure preamp (I guess resulting from the parallel FX loop) and sounds pretty fuzzy and muffled!
