Medium rare? Are you all sick or something? All that blood.. The plate has a pool of red in it by the time you're done. I voted medium well, and that's still on the borderline of too bloody.

Medium rare: dead but juicy. My mother likes hers still mooing. The running joke ia that she asks the waiter to back the cow up to the fire and slice a chunk off its butt onto the plate.
 
C'mon you sissies (jk)! Taste a little blood! Rare is the only way to go and even that's not rare enough. The juicier the steak the better! I think that the blood makes up half the steak. As long as the steak is tender and very rare, I'll eat that sucker in 3 minutes flat.

the degree of "doneness" differs from country to country, so i've found. back in aussieland, i always had my steaks cooked medium-rare to medium, but up here in the freezer, they seem to think that involves burning the outside and leaving the inside still mooing. i cant get it through their thick heads that it should be pink, not raw, inside; and browned on the outside, not charcoal!! this is why i rarely have steak when we eat out.
