At least this thread is not another "Who is the best guitarist" thread...

Some blood is good, but i don't like it red inside... pink is good with lotsa juicyness.

Here's something interesting. When I eat steak, it must be the MOST tender possible. If I end up with grissle ... (gristle? I can't spell...) or anything that is of different texture than the rest of the meat, I cannot eat it. So I end up getting the more expensive steaks... When I'm through with college, I will need a high paying job, because I have expensive taste!

Medium rare if I make it myself. If I go out, it has to be medium, since most restaurants tend to undercook. Medium-well at Outback! I swear their steaks are still bleeding! Still incredibly good. The best steak around? Ruth's Chris Steak House, and it has got to be the fillet. Its not cheap there, but well worth it. There is a great place here in NJ called Arthur's. Its good cheap streak. You get a nice 24 oz. steak for $14, and that includes a full meal. Plus they serve beers by the liter! You can't go wrong there. By the way, is anyone really afraid of Mad Cow disease? I'm not. I just don't want it to affect the price of my steaks or burgers.

I think people only buying cheap meat is one of the reasons the BSE (or mad cow disease) virus distributes itself so fast. Better hope this thing gets isolated soon and don't spread, because if it does, the US are going to be in a great big heap of trouble. Funny how it's suddenly a Canadian cow the disease supposed to have come from... ;)

you should hear the shit flying around up here in alaska about mad cow disease. apparently, the mushers for the 2004 yukon quest can't put beef up for their dogs in canada because of it... and of course the us government is saying its payback for when canada had the disease a while back.

also, no beef is getting through to here now because its all trucked from the lower 48 through canada via the alcan highway, and the canadian government won't let it pass. personally, i couldnt care less... give me lamb any day :)

What exactly is Mad Cow? I don't understand. Is it communicable, or is it a nervous system malfunction? Or both? Could someone please explain? I know there's a damn big scare, and humans have gotten it, but I don't understand exactly how it works.

Well, I'm no expert and I'm sure there's a lot of information about it on the internet, but as far as I understand it, it's a neural virus that affects the brain, causing the animal to go into spastic convulsions and frothing from the mouth (don't know the english word for it on animals) The only chance a human can obtain it, is by eating infected meat. This would be cheap meat, because the 'brain' part of the cows aren't used in the usual priced meat-parts, like steak and such. it's the best I can do on the subject for now, sorry. But I do know it doesn't spread as fast as Chicken-plague or Pig-plague, which spreads like wildfire.

Fuck Mad Cow Disease and all the paranoid bullshit that goes along with it. Every month, we need a new disease or safety risk to be afraid of. SARS was the last one, I guess. You're not going to get Mad Cow Disease, so stop worrying! There's more of a chance of dying in a car crash or getting hit by a falling piano or something.

This is the same shit as worrying about flying because of a fear of terrorists.

Oh, I'm not afraid or anything, just curious about how the disease works. That stuff fascinates me. Diseases are some weird shit, especially Ebola. Anyone here read "The Hot Zone?"

No matter, steak is still good medium well, goddamn it!
