click it, mikael basically admits he didn't really like deliverance when it was done!

it may be old news, it may be no big deal, but it interested me! i love the first two tracks on that album so much!

i can't view flash vids like on youtube and shit cause my comp crashes, but i think most people if not everybody already knows that mikael was unhappy with deliverance. i personally think it's a great album and has many of their best songs, deliv, fair judgement, master's, but the end result didn't come out quite as he wanted cause it was a shitty situation in the studio and everything, watch lamentations and he talks a lot about it, they all do. i still love how mendez is laying back saying, yeah we had a lots of technicals problem is nackvings studios, lol. :)

It's funny because at the time when they were touring I was sure he said that he thought that Deliverance was one of the best songs they'd ever done. It's possibly my favourite album of theirs, but I can see that it has a bit of a rough sound to it.

i think the production on Wreath is as perfectly suited to the song as anything they've done, apart from maybe april ethereal, something like that. It's dry, foreboding, you can hear everything but it's not too studio. It's a complex song with the background vocals high toms that repeating guitar before *calling me back*, but they don't milk the production. It doesn't help some of the other songs, true, but some of the others needed a little trimming IMHO

I understand why Mike isn't fond of it, the experience of recording it was clearly painful...but...I LOVE it...it's probably my favourite Opeth album..great songs and a unique atmosphere I think...

^ that's what i meant to say, i know mike wasn't happy with the way it was done, but they still keep playing the songs, so i know they must love the songs. so glad to finally see them play wreath live (on video), and omg i just cream myself every time i start up lamentations and watching them play master's apprentices.

IIRC he didn't like the production values... not to mention the family struggles he was going
through during the writing/recording phase. He also admits to disliking BTPISIO, which doesn't help at all.
