Hunter S.

theres a nice requiem in the lastest newsweek on page 56 if you guys are that interested.

ps: man, you guys do a lot of drugs. i miss those days.

Everyone here should check out some David Lynch movies if you already haven't, they are probably nothing like Hunter S.'s movies, I wouldn't know, I have never seen one, but David Lynch is a genius. Try checking out Mullholland Drive, or Eraserhead if you can find it. Eraserhead is more bizarre and disturbing, but they are both brilliant.

David Lynch is a god, I just did a study on him for college, and I still don't understand some of his films...........and maybe thats the point

According to him that is the point, you interpret it the way you want to, although there does seem to be a flow of ideas hidden deep within his movies, god knows what they are though.

Be sure to check out Blue Velvet if you're gonna watch a David Lynch movie. Dennis Hopper is insane in that flick.

Amazon.com says... Blue Velvet is a disturbing film that delves into the darkest reaches of psycho-sexual brutality and simply isn't for everyone. But for a viewer who wants to see the cinematic world rocked off its foundations, David Lynch delivers a nightmarish masterpiece.

uhm....what the hell? hunter thompson was a very important journalist during the nixon-vietnam era. david lynch is a director/writer of nearly-unwatchable movies. the two people have virtually nothing in common.

that said, mulholland drive has some great nude scenes and a masturbation scene with naomi watts. the rest is just artsy-fartsy "look at me, im wierd as fuck" directing. enjoy!

Shame on you Dorian, Lynch makes movies that are hard to watch, but well worth the effort, and yes, they are weird as fuck and artsy fartsy, but that's what makes it so damn good!

...eeeehhhh...i dunno about that. worth the effort? why? i wanted to kill myself after Mullholland Drive. I wouldnt say it was "worth the effort". worth a good jerk, maybe.

Well that too... but it was weird enough to make most other movies seem fairly average, except Eraserhead, that even makes Mullholland Drive seem normal-ish. Mullholland Drive is worth is just for Naomi Watts though.

I think I have seen that movie... don't remember well.
Question: Was Isabella Rosellini acting in this movie?

No that was Blue Velvet, another great Lynch flick (bought it for my girlfriend the other day!), Mullholland Drive is better though.

I agree with mulholland drive being better, there is something quietly evil about it that appeals to me. Eraserhead was the first lynch film i saw (well Elephant man but thats different) must watch it again, it was way to fucked up for my small mind at the time.

Lynch films seem to turn me onto some old school music. Blue Velvet by Bobby Vinton is a cool song and Why havent I told you by Linda Scott (which is now one of my fav songs) are on constant rotation because of his films.

bump. Watched Mulholland Drive tonight. my thoughts?: "....what..the..fuck?'

haha, somehow though i enjoyed it throughout, trying to figure it out and all, but then the last 30 minutes, it just fuckin did like five 360's and i was like hmm..this dude definetly dropped a lotta acid when he wrote this. weird film..

wasnt there a part near the end where some old man and woman were really small - like fake midgets? something like that. anyway, that scene made me stop caring about the movie. one redeeming quality: helped me realize that naomi watts is hot.
