well if there are mac viruses, they probably wrote them so that they can sell you software to get rid of it

pretty sure plenty of PC anti-virus companies do the same...

actually these threads saying "there are virusses for macs" are just strengthening the argument PRO mac...
cause they're so few and far between, that a 5 year old virus still ispires a new thread.

go to any porn or torrent or whatever site with a PC without protection and you'll get 20 virusses....
but that one obsolete Mac virus makes the news...doesn't that fact alone tell enough?

I do think though that mac virusses will become more of a concern in the future, I think the iPhone and iPod has created so many new "apple fans" that the use of macs is rapidly increasing (you can already see macs everywhere, especially lapstops, not too long ago you'd have to search for a mac user outside of audio producteion, design etc).
And as the target group increases in size it'll be more and more tempting for those people who program virusses to come up with one that's actually dangerous for a mac....
but so far a single fucking virus is novelty enough to make the news and inspire a new thread

It's not slowing down my laptop and it doesn't get in the way with anything - works completely in the background. So far it only found a win only virus once.

Their numbers might be real and I don't have a problem with "Dr Web" putting them out. I just think it's funny that major news sources are stating the findings of a single company they heard of yesterday as absolute fact.
It's not a knock on Dr Web (if I say it enough it might stop being hilarious) but rather on the media's need to latch onto the most sensational numbers.
Supposedly 56% of US mac users have this and yet I haven't talked to a single user that has failed the terminal check.

Who said Macs don't get viruses? Nobody that knows anything about them, that's for sure. Times any of my Macs over the last 5-6 years have been infected with one though? Zero. Number of anti-virus programs I have ever used on one? Zero. Last time I had to worry about any of that? 5-6 years ago when I still used a PC.

I understand though, every couple of years a virus for Macs breaks news and someone has to post a sarcastic thread about it, it's cool man.
