Not only is this the best Hypocrisy album, but it's a goddamn near milestone masterpiece in the heavy metal landscape.

Discuss.

keep it that way because nearly all their albums have practically unlistenable production

they played at party-san but i really couldnt be bothered to see them

Abducted is better, and so is the self-titled, although The Final Chapter has my favorite Hypocrisy song: A COMING RACE :kickass: :kickass: :kickass:

The production takes some getting used to, although I've always loved how Abducted sounds because it isn't as harsh/trebly/digital. I do like Tägtgren's layering of like 50,42082840k,m,24802 guitar tracks though, like in the above mentioned BEST HYPO SONG EVAR.

I still need to pick up Virus, I liked it when I heard it once or twice last year.

Abducted = metal masterpiece :headbang:

The production is def. Muddy on their albums but I still like them. I will admit thought that I only have The Arrival, Catch 22, and Virus, but i enjoyed all of them immensly. Fire in The Sky was the first song I heard by them and its still one of my favorites. Funny how he produces his albums fairly muddy but just about everything else he does sounds pretty clear. mmmm, maybe its the whole abducted by aliens thing where theres statci and shit.

Really fun early Swedish death metal album that is overlooked by a lot of people. I didn't truly appreciate it until I saw Hypocrisy perform a few tracks from this in concert, the unison guitar single note riffery at loud volume really sold it.

What can you say about this one? . . . . The vocals are recorded better than on Penetralia. Sorta.

This is where the band found their style. Very sparse album but has some really awesome songs in a style that was perfected a few years later, but this album serves as more than just as a fun band history moment.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS this album rules my face six ways from Sunday. One of my all time favorites, this is like a collection of perfect guitar riffs thrown together in excellent order. BUY OR DIE

Every song is great, the only thing that is wrong with this album is the consistency between tracks, it has always played like a greatest hits collection (albeit a very well put together one). A Coming Race is the best thing the band ever did, very much a highpoint in metal.

One of the finer melodic death metal albums I've heard, its charm has waned a little throughout the years but it's still quite good. Pretty god damn amazing guitar solos, and includes death metal ballads that aren't gay. Very catchy, but not poppy.

Hated by a lot of people, this was what happens when a band gets coked up and spends a week in the studio rediscovering their brutal 19 year old death head roots. Pretty fun, but doesn't really sound like Hypocrisy in a lot of ways.

Basically a typical return to form album that succeeds in sounding like the good ol' days, but fails in that it has no soul. Decent, but nothing special.

I've only listened to this one a few times and need to purchase it. Reminded me of Into the Abyss but better. The glory days are gone, but who cares?

Its not that bad. i actually enjoyed quite a bit of it. Dead End For Deadman was a great catchy a hell song. With Horgh playing drums on Virus though, it just crushes so hard. Ive actually got 6 copies of Virus. When all the defects came out I emailed Nuclear Blast and they sent me two copies each time I emailed. I didnt reailize I sent it three times though so i got three seperate packages int he mail. ive also got the messed up ones as well.

= you are unlearn-ed. It's true that Catch 22 is not an awful album, but in comparison to their old shit it sucks balls. BALLS. Pick up Abducted, The Final Chapter, or the self-titled.

Shortly after Catch 22 was released, in concert Peter said "okay tonight we're going to play some new shit AND some old shit, so everybody's happy okay?" which was cool. Every time I've seen them they've played a great variety from most (if not all) their albums, which is good.

The story goes The Final Chapter was supposed to be their breakup album, but then fans said NOWAY! pretty loud so they decided to keep on keepin' on. When I talked to Peter [/gay name drop] he said he was just frustrated with the whole band at the time, but like 6 albums later that no longer appears to be the case.
