If it hasn't kicked in full blown yet you need to haul your ass to the drugstore and buy something called Zicam. This shit has worked for me everytime. It's guaranteed to shorten the duration of a cold, and a couple of times I used it when I was in the initial sore throat phase it actually stopped it. This shit rocks and it's homeopathic so it's metal all the way.

I generally pound 3000mg of vitamin C when I feel a cold/flu/leprosy coming on, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Either way, colds are stupid.

if you're going to buy it, you should get the nose spray--i have the mouth spray and it works the same but tastes crappy. Zinc stuff is the ONLY thing proven to shorten the duration of or prevent the onset of the common cold. my roomie's mother uses it constantly and she hasn't gotten a cold since she started.

it is pricey, though. $14 for a little bottle.
