I can honestly say I've never had to scoop this region from guitars before...

Just did some reamping and got an odd spike around 1.4khz. Same room as I always reamp in, same cab, one of my very familiar heads, and my trusty ol' 57's (Fredman style this time though, something I don't often do so perhaps there was an oddity there?)

In any event, I found it strange. I know there are no rules, but that's just it; I always use my ears, and it's invariably the same sort of spots I have to EQ. If anything, I've often had to boost around 1.5k to bring out some of that 'in your face' region (as Mr Richardson put it) but in this particular tone there was something bugging me and I couldn't put my finger on it. Some slappy/boxy node poking out, so I swept a tight Q around and found it to be right there at 1.4k.

Anybody found this before?
Just a thought...

I actually ended up with a fairly sizeable scoop there on the song I'm working on right now - not for the guitars themselves, but just because it was making ugly midrange babies with all the other mid frequencies in the mix.

Sometimes I've found those resonances in my guitars, I fix it damping the springs of my tremolo (I have passive pick ups).

same here. with a cloth. the spring "reverb" is usually noticable when reamped.
