I cant add Mellotron Heart to Itunes

how can any person volunteraly use iTunes, iPod and other iShit is beyond by understanding...
if things "progress" as they have done so far, then yet yet they will invent some audio format, which is even worse than mp3 and after 5-10 years we all will buy those songs track by track for huge money, because albums don´t make any sence then. we will play those track on ultramega light weighted players which have 3d hologram screens with ability to emulate odour. for uploading we have to use 64 core 10THz comupters whith mega fancy software, wich have option to dl the track from internet, convert it to shit and upload to your megaShitPod...

First of all, AAC is better quality then MP3. Period. If you have a problem with Apple, fine, but be respectful and don't insult the people who use it. I mean, I could mention all the retards who use Vista now couldn't I? But no.

You comments on the development of technology are in some ways valid, but if you're not willing to change with the way things are you're going to be very unhappy for the rest of your life. Change in inevitable. So the album is dying, whatever. It's not like it's the end of music, it's just an interesting change. Personally I'd rather get a new song every few weeks than a new album every two years.

Whatever, I don't know why I bother posting here anymore. People are just so irrational and fanboyish, it's really starting to get to me. Dude above posted a link to a file. So what? Perhaps if Roadrunner stopped being so ass-backwards and supported the music distribution method that is already way overdue, he wouldn't have felt the need to post the link.

Go cry and be emo. AAC IS better than MP3. But that doesn't make it good. Instant gratification is acceptable for those of short, immature attention span. Such as yourself.

This is exactly why I don't post here as much anymore.

Threak and Rorix: you are both pretty unbelievable. Why don't you go somewhere else to complain about how inconvenient it is to pirate music?

Would someone explain the arguments about why it's not up to them to decide how Opeth's music is distributed and that it's not for them to go ahead and steal it if they don't like the way things work? I just don't have it in me right now.

Samara, I bought the special edition of the album, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with the way that it's been distributed. Imagine my surprise when I found out that in no matter what happened I would have to break a law in order to listen to the bonus tracks on my mp3 player. It's simply pathetic to think that Roadrunner still has not accepted the fact that this is how the majority of people listen to music. They bitch because the album got leaked, yet they're not looking at alternate ways of getting the music out there (like NIN and Radiohead have been doing).

I'm not saying that stealing is right, nor am I encouraging it, but at the same time I can't help but feel a little pissed off that people have been getting banned left right and center simply because they wanted to share interesting and rare music that they loved.

Kenneth, your diction is telling enough of your own level of maturity, but just to humor you I will say that I do agree with you for the most part. People lack a certain level of patience in our society, and this, I think, is the problem with North America. I'm very careful about the role I play as a consumer.

Indeed. Consumerism fuels the iPod movement, and it disgusts me.

I think the funny thing about the iPod is that I truly have yet to come across a more user-friendly interface. I've always been more of an artist than a techy, so for me Apple's products have always been preferable. The fact that iPods are trendy just seems to have come from the fact that there is not much viable competition out there.

lol, things going serious here... I was mostly joking... I am not innocent that concirns piracy... sometimes I dl almbum and listen it ... if I like it, I buy it. It is good way to discover some new music. But I never share or upload it... for f**k sake! Especially Opeth...
What is the point of very rare limited Opeth cd (Mellotron Heart) if it would be freely available for everyone???
Remember that Mike is very fond of rare obscure (mostly ´70s prog) shit. So they wanted that this CD would be super rare collectable item this time. And privilage to get this would have those who are biggest Opeth fans who buy full package... fair enough for me...
respect the band or leave the forum... how more irrespectful you can be by sharing the link of pirate copy of a song on OFFICIAL band forum???
my second point. In the '90s CDs went popular and we could listen music in great quality and even take it with you with portable CD players. In the middle of '90s they invent mp3 format that took much less space and was with pretty acceptable quality. It was good concidering that time CPU speeds and quality of soundcards. The standard as such is over 10 years old. And in todays stardads it is total nonsence. What was wrong with CDs??? Today we have players with 10s of Gigabytes of memory... but still mp3 is so popular.
Fortunatelly there are lossless codecs and portable players which support them.
I think that actually mp3s are so popular becouse of piracy.... its like competition, who has more mp3s on their iPods...
Idiocracy! I must say!

Respect artists!

PS sorry for my English

worst and most uninformed post i've ever read in my entire life

Well hes right and wrong, its true that the iPod is extremely easy to use, it doesnt have tons of buttons to confuse you. On the other, its definitely true that most people buy an iPod without even looking for other mp3 players, simply because everyone has one.

If you have a differing opinion, state it. Otherwise, please be quiet. I'm fine with flames, so long as they're explained in full. Simply making statements like this is rather cowardly, as there is no way to argue against it.

I have looked at a lot of different MP3 players, but have found none that really seem as clean and logical as the iPod. It seems to me that people who have a beef with Apple feel the need to advertise it because they want to be "counter-culture". This in itself is a form of conformity.

But hey, if you want a Zune, go ahead. I'm not telling anyone else to buy an iPod, so get over it.

This is the largest one I could find.

if you seriously feel like arguing about something that you're wrong about, I don't feel like wasting my time. Just another falsely informed apple consumer wrong about everything, and you really do know nothing about mp3 players, or really technology in general to make such a ludicrous statement. move along.

Well then humor me and tell me what MP3 player YOU use. I'm very curious.

you guys must never have tried a Creative Zen Vision, too late now. They don't make them anymore and you have to snipe them off ebay. More durable than an iPod, more freedom, longer battery life, better interface. More customizeable. Oops.

I don't care for the Zen's interface. From what I've heard, they tend to break, and they don't have better battery life than the iPod. The Zune 80's are the best competition against the iPod at this point. Meh, it doesn't matter anyways. If someone likes their player, I don't see what the point in bitching at them about how shitty it is is.

I'm not saying that stealing is right, nor am I encouraging it, but at the same time I can't help but feel a little pissed off that people have been getting banned left right and center simply because they wanted to share interesting and rare music that they loved.

From what I've heard, Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) has expressed on many occasions that he doesn't mind the bootlegs and pirating of his out of print and rare music. He's fine with it, as long as people aren't trying to make money off of the distribution. He's released numerour stuff in limited editions (Cover Version albums and suchforth) that he ended up rereleasing because people were bootleggin the material and selling it. I remember him saying that he felt bad for the collectors, but he was rereleasing the material to cut back on overseas piracy and fake bootlegs on eBay.

I've also heard that he's fine with people ripping the limited edition, rare and sold out Bass Communion records and providing them for free in mp3. From what I've also heard, as long as it's sold out, deleted and rare material... as long as you're not selling it for profit he's fine with people ripping his music and giving it away and he'd never prosecute for it.

I've read a lot of stuff like this about Steven Wilson. But, I've never met him to ask. Also, everything I've read has been on the internet, and that's not always the most reliable for information. I don't think I've read it in interviews. I think I've just heard it mentioned. If it's true, I'd highly agree with his stance.
