I dropped my new Gibson Les Paul!

I got my new Gibson Les Paul Natural Satin yesterday. What a nice guitar! But why the hell haven't I checked the guitar belt twice... you can imagine what happened.
BAM right onto it's head... it got some light wounds because of that!

Ok, I now, a guitar has to have it's damages but why so early? ;D

Fortunately there was some thin carpet on the floor.

It happend as I held the guitar at it's belt with one hand, while giving it to one of my bandmembers. The f****** belt just popped away and everone was like "OH NOO!"

Yeah, normally I use a DiMarzio strap... But this time I just wanted to test the guitar and took an old one. My damn fault..

I'm usually kinda relieved the first time I make a huge dent or damage to a new guitar. Then I wont have to be careful with it after that.

But on the first day is kinda of a drag

Glad to hear your Les Paul is still in one piece, I went into this thread expecting full broken headstock carnage pics.

At least it didn't break at the headstock. I watched my friend's LP slide off of a wall (silly place, not very secure I know) and the headstock snapping off. That wasn't pretty...

Then again, I guess a guitar needs a bit of wear to give it mojo.

An old strap failed on me once. Since then I've stuck to thick leather straps that take about 5 minutes to put on the guitar. More comfortable and won't drop on you.

The guitarist in one of my bands has had the headstock sheared off his Les Paul twice. The trouble with the one-piece mahogany necks is they're pretty much an accident waiting to happen. It amused me to notice that Epiphone's cheaper guitar necks are better made than full fledged Gibsons.

Hehe, yeah it wasn't THAT hard. Maybe I post some pics of the slight damage it got! It still works fine!

Dunlop straplocks never failed on me, man. Put on ASAP.

Btw, I know this story where a girl went to UK to study and came back with a Gibson SG. She lent it to a guy I know and he took the guitar to his band's rehearsal and was walking around with it. They were rehearsing at the school's auditorium, and while coming from backstage, he slightly banged the SG body on a door and BAM, one of the little horns the SG has failed off. I don't know how the story finished, but he probably banged the girl a lot from every possible angle and on every possible hole, because they still remained friends after that. I would just kill the guy if he did that to one of my guitars.

Make sure you lie about it to the chicks though. If they as how that happened, you say "Well, I was jamming out with Slayer, and decided to jump into the pit for a while. My guitar fractured some dudes skull and now it's dented".

DAMN! =( I noticed a slight crack in one side of the neck today!
Seems that I wasn't so lucky! Don't know what I should do right now! The guitar stays in tune and everything is fine, but I'm afraid this crack will get bigger and the headstock is snapping in my face anytime.
The shop where I ordered it offers a 30 day return. Maybe I could tell them....that.... no .. they won't believe me!
