I get sent some really great stuff sometimes

Usually it's just mediocre demo CDs of bands I can barely muster any strength to care about, but then I get something like The Aerium, who are a Russian opera metal band. Why they wanted to send me something I dunno, but who am I to refuse? It's actually not that bad - the vocals are done really well in fact. And awhile ago I got a CD from Gypsophile, a moody semi-acoustic French group who are amazing. Why me? Why ask?

i never ask the "why me" when i get stuff from over seas... i'm usually just thankful. like the up-start french label that sent me some great indie rock.

it's little, weird perks like that that keep me doing the site.

I would think its the pleasant surprises that make it worthwhile, wading through what must be a fair amount of mediocre to just plain bad stuff.

so far I haven't really gotten too much crap. TONS of mediocrity, but little actual garbage.
