I got hired at a legit studio!

guess what you get to do for us?

MAKE DRUM SAMPLES

DO IT

As soon as I'm in there working on a regular basis I will get you so many samples your head will explode

First day went well. The setup is relatively simple... but I'm a little iffy about the patch bay still. Get this shit... we went in thinking we were recording the drum tracks for 10 songs today in a 10 hour block... no... the band wanted to do 10 COMPLETE songs in a 10 hour block

sounds about right

Where? Please tell me, i want to record those bands ehehhe My old band was quick to record and we took like 4 hours for one song and it was FAST. My clients usually take 6 hours/song if they're good and 10 to 12 hours if they suck.

nice one dude!
10 songs in ten hours??
hahahahahahahaha
ive had those days.
oh the joy

I meant the assumption that a band can record 10 songs in 10 hours was about right.

We spent 100 hours tracking the 10 song ofHuman record, which one of the songs is posted above. Do bands seriously think they are going to get a quality product knocking out 10 songs in 10 hours? I guess if the band is tight as fuck it could be pulled off but still

congrats dude!
I dont think anyone has asked how you went about getting hired at such a nice studio. Did you know someone there? Were you putting out good recordings at your home studio and they liked your stuff?
just curious since there are some really nice studios in the Nashville, TN area i wouldn't mind working at lol

I'm a little late too, but this is awesome news, congrats man and I hope all goes well for you!

Dudes.. I am on such a string of good luck lately. Tomorrow I am leaving on tour to do monitors for OK GO!

You know the fucking treadmill video band

Yeah I know, not really the style you guys really care for but I'm goin' out!

As far as to how I got the job, I had been to the studio several times with a band I do a lot of live sound and design work, ofHuman. Talked with the chief engineer a lot about recording while I was there over a course of a few weeks.

I did a show a few weeks ago with a semi national band, Bobaflex. Their guitarist sent me a voicemail when I was in a basement session thanking me, saying that it was the best monitor mix they had ever had at the venue. and I said something to him about recording. Bobaflex does a lot of recording at Sonic Lounge. By chance I ran in the guitar player the next day at a Halloween shop. He told me that Joe (chief engineer at Sonic Lounge) was looking for additional engineers. He hooked us up, and Joe told me he was actually considering asking me before Bobaflex dude called him.

When I met Joe he said my reputation as an engineer was a huge factor in him asking me to work there, and that all of my clients and bands that I had worked with spoke very highly of me. He is getting older and wants to spend more time with his kids and is tired of working at the studio 10-12 hours a day, every day.

Another reason is I have access to a client base through my live engineering. His other engineers do not actively pursue clients, at all, and he thinks it is losing him money.

That's pretty much it. BEST FUCKING WEEK EVER

Thanks dude!

I talked with the OK GO mgmt last night and although I'm not doing this tour, I will be going out with them in the future so it's all good I suppose.
