I just heard the new EP. I have given up on Iced Earth. There's nothing left. I just don't care anymore.

Ten Thousand Strong just makes me think of a less epic "Declaration Day".

The reworking of the Something Wicked Trilogy is just blasphemy.

Seems a bit silly to give up on a band, set to release a two disc concept album, based on one song.

As for the trilogy, it's not something Jon wanted to do. He was merely filling an obligation to the record company. Too many people seem to be making more out of this than what it is. It's not as if they're going to stop printing the version of "Something Wicked" with Barlow on vocals. If you like the version with Barlow better, than listen to that version.

I unfortnately have to agree it doesnt sound as good as the Barlowe version it is just missing that extra something. There arent bad versions, just not as good. I thought it sounded much better live when they played the trilogy.

I am still really anxious to hear the new album, but not as much now.

wow i NEVER agree with Zod.... but here i do, if you dont like this version then dont listen to it....its that simple

as far as giving up on them, it seems a tad silly based on one track... but if thats what ya wanna do go for it

To clear things up a bit, I hadn't quite given up on Iced Earth with A Glorious Shitpile. I wanted to like that album. I really did. I just couldn't bring myself to it. There were a few mediocre songs on that album, so I thought with the next release Schaffer might pick things back up. This single just basically locked the door that was already closed.

I guess I'll just have to listen to Pyramaze from now on (which was actually fine with Lance King).

I haven't heard anything from the upcoming disc, but Iced Earth has never let anyone down in my opinion. They've stuck to their sound, no compromises. If you don't like the band or the new song, so be it. I for one have a hard time believing the new disc won't be any good.

Iced Earth has let alot of people down. They're about to let down many more.

Iced Earth has never let anyone down in my opinion.

Where did you get this idea? :guh: I realize it's only an opinion, but out of all the Iced Earth fans I know, I don't think more than one or two were satisfied with The Glorious Burden. I realize it's only an opinion, just wondering where you're coming from.

*wonders how many people would have the opposite opinion of Glorious Burden if Barlow hadn't left*

My problem wasn't just with Barlow leaving, it's also that some of the material on The Glorious Burden was just plain weak. I did, however, love the Gettysburg trilogy and thought Owens did an excellent job.

i think the music would have sounded alot better maybe the production or recording or both were better.

its just the drums and guitar sound so frickin weak in the songs, maybe if they were to give it some juice or something. Powerful driving guitar tone was one thing that made iced earths music sound good, especially on horror show.

i think tim did a good job, i dont hear anything wrong with him. but on ten thousand strong, the song just sounded generic as hell.

im looking forward to the album, im sure enough bad reviews from this ep might give jon and the boys some idea of what needs to be fixed.

ten thousand strong was not so good, i hope thats not the best song on the album, because it scares me that that song made it on the EP.

I actually cried while listening to the new EP. Tears definitely fell like rain. It's just not the same without Barlow.

Even with Barlow "The Glorious Burden" would've been weak. Horror Show is such a better album.

I don't really like the production of the new EP either. The drums sound like a cheap programmed machine. It really sounds like a polished demo recording. Ripper just sounds bored.
