I love randomly just throwing on "older" CDs

Listening to Empyrium today for the first time in a while. I love these dudes.

I would still call them my favourite band ever, but I literally don't think I've listened to them for about 6 months. WTF is that about?!

There are definitely bands I love, that I don't listen to with great frequency. Primordial is a perfect example of this. I probably only spin their discs ever few months. But every time I listen, I love what I hear.

Last night my 5 year old son walked up to me and, handing me a cd, asked if we could listen to it. It was D.R.I.'s Dealing With It. It had been a looong time since I heard that and my god was it great!!! With the exception of a promo I received today, I've been listening to those Dirty Rotten Imbeciles all damn day. Fuck I love the classics.

Awesome. And the kid is being right properly indoctrinated too, with catchy as hell crossover thrash goodness.

I shit you not...I actually got a little choked up at one point. He started jumping around just as I fell prey to a spasm of air guitar. We were thrashing together and I was overcome with pride.

Later that night he was cleaning his room before bed and, as I walked by, I heard "I lose, you win, I lose, you win...". :headbang:

How about some non-Crossover? That'd be great. Got any fucking Discharge to throw on? Amebix?

On a related note:

Picked up Napalm Death "Scum" 20th Anniversary Edition. The remastering is somewhat subtle compared to how it usually gets handled, but it helps immensely for the digital format.

Ruleage.

The timing of this thread is somewhat ironic. Last night the wife and I split a few bottle of wines, and as is our custom, I ended up DJing from my CD collection. Anyway... I threw on "I Want Out". When the song was done, I didn't feel like getting up to put on a different disc. I sat back and listened to the title track of of Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part II, and was just blown away. I was amazed at just how creative that song is. The instrumentation is just off the charts. And what really amazes me is, with all the bands that Helloween has influenced, how none of them comes even close to the original.

Eagle Fly Free is rarely discussed? Interesting. I always thought of it as their "Run to the Hills" or "Paranoid". Isn't it always an encore at least?

Kiske's vocals haven't stood the test of time for me. Or at least, his falsetto can get a little grating at times, but when he's singing at a normal octave, he's da man.

What do you think of the song "Mr Torture"? It is one of life's many guilty pleasures. :loco::headbang:

Ali, you deserve a kick in the shins for the bolded comment.
