About 7 weeks, starting with zero knowledge about speakers and very very little knowledge about woodworking.
No idea which wood, its been compared to cedar and teak. Got it second hand (part of the uni course requirements).
Maybe 1kg each? Not outrageous, but not super light either. The drivers are heavy.
The sound is pretty good. Not perfect - due to some slight complications at the end there are some very slight vibrations in the lower frequencies at loud volumes, but its pretty good. Very flat all the way down to about 70hz, with a spike at 2-4khz that can easily be EQ'd out with software or something. Fantastic phantom centre.
