Yeah there really wasn't a night and day difference although to my ears the ball sounded a pinch smoother overall (which I admit is not the greatest for this genre).
But for $50 usd I couldn't resist buying a couple.
The only downside is the fact that they are plastic, the mounts are restrictive (range of motion), and about the size of a softball (so big) so I wouldn't be comfortable trying them on toms, or a snare with a newb drummer. The mounts however can be remedied by either getting a short gooseneck or buying "the ringer" which is the shock mount for all of the ball series mics.
