I quite like Alexi's guitars, but they are his own set up (and terribly overpriced). I always liked the shape of the SV, and preferred it's 2 pickups to Alexi's one.
Also, I quite want a 7 string, just for extra lowness, but if I were to get one it'd be a regular body shape (Schecter C-7 Hellraiser, without a FR).

For Metal, Yes. For starters only playing using the Bridge pickup forces you to play alot cleaner. Instead of just slapping it on the neck and sweeping like a mindless bellend (when I want to do that I have my other guitars). I am grateful for my lack of neck pickup as it has given me a much cleaner playing style than most people I know.
Secondly not all RR's have only bridge pickups...
Also when I was talking about customizing I didn't specifically say that RR's need customizing. I merely stated that is why I choose looks over other factors when choosing which guitar to buy.

Yeah, I know it could make you want to play cleaner cause only having that pickup is going to fuck around with your playing and limit your sound. How many actual good clean and tight guitarists out there actually use just one pickup like that?
Yes, I do know that. I'm mainly talking about the Alexi RR's.
Like for example, if you've seen Sami Raatikainen's custom RR, at least he got it right.
Well anyways, I don't give a fuck about looks. I just care about quality in playability and sound.

If these players where so clean and tight then they shouldn't need to use any other pickups. Speaking for the metal side though. Ofc for other styles you want a bridge pickup.
Yeah and Alexis ESP's are definitelly unplayable, terrible quality and EMG81's give off a terrible sound.
