It surprised me to see this CD in HMV, but the store made the metal section even bigger than before ( it's the third time they make it bigger ) and now they have a fucking shitload of underground bands, including Summoning. The thing is... the cd was 32.99$ CAN ( which is like 26.99$ US ) What a bunch of fucking thieves! Just compare to The End Records which sell this cd like half the price....

Don't any of you guys have independent music stores that sell both new and used metal cd's? Good thing I live where I do. I hardly ever buy albums brand new, and can find many albums in pretty good shape used for around $8.

The Media Play I go to every once-in-a-blue-moon always has an excellent selection, but I have to filter through the Pop section to get 'em.

Very few stores around here actually have a "Heavy Metal" section.

I do, but I don't bother with the used section because it's unsorted between genres.

the Tower Records I go to has an excellent selection including some underground artists (Bathory, Blut Aus Nord, Darkthrone...). The prices are usually about $15-$17, but it's still cool to go to a record store, browse and see those titles there.

thx for the suggestion Unknown. Yes, I'm pretty sure we have those stores which sells new and used CDs, but I never bothered to look for them. It's either HMV or The End Records for me.

You live in Quebec City ? We should probably meet up sometimes during a show, too bad there aren't many shows this summer.
In Quebec City, there is this used and new cd shop that's called Musique Du Faubourg, which is on St-Jean, near the Old Quebec. There is a somewhat good choice of metal music, and the prices are good too (12-14$CAN taxes included for a used cd in perfect condition and I never bothered to check for new cds as I usually get the from The End, or Relapse lately).

"AMOEBA has a great metal section, new and used"

That's where I go. The one on Haight. Or i'll venture off into Berkeley and hit up the one on Telegraph. Or Rasputins.

I would imagine that Amoeba's even better than Vintage Vinyl based on what I've heard about Amoeba, but I actually shop at Vintage Vinyl regularly and one can find close to anything there within reason. Of course, nothing beats the internet, but stores like Vintage Vinyl and Amoeba come pretty damn close.

Yeah I heard of Musique Du Faubourg, but I never bothered looking for the store ( but I should) , and this summer I don't live in Quebec but in my native town in the Bas-St-Laurent. I don't go to many shows neither... I don't think I would fit there. ( I don'T have any metal shirts and I have short hair  )

Yeah, I have short hair too, and I usually wear a nice shirt and no dark clothes when I go to a show. No one has ever said anything yet. I even went in suit to a punk-metal show ! I got plenty of looks, but still no one said anything.
Where are you now then ? My mom is from Mont-Joli and a big part of my family lives in Rimouski.

Yeah I usually stock up on CDs at Ameoba and Rasputins in Berkeley and San Francisco three or four times a year. The selection and prices are just amazing. They have all sorts of bands I never see anywhere else such as Countess, Hate Forest, Mutiilation and so forth. Their vinyl is way too overpriced though... Here in Santa Cruz we have a quality record store called Streetlight which has a suprisingly good metal section. So really I only use the internet as a suplimentry tool to these record stores to fill out my collection.

Yea HMV is a total rip off. Here, I go to a place called JB Hi Fi. They have a heavy metal section but they don't have the more underground stuff.

Bullshit. I got Nazxul, Zyklon-B and Nagelfar from JB's in Canberra. There was a heap of other great shit in there too.
