I switched back to EMGs in my favorite guitar.....

This sounds really good. That guitar tone is awsome, and the whole mix.
Mind sharing some info on what impulse you used and/or what post processing?

I'm looking forward to your album. All your songs are just so good.

Sounds awseome man. I think you get amp sims and IRs sounding more like a real mic'd up amp & cab than anyone else on this forum. Definitely curious what IR(s) was used...

Love all the little ambient layers in the background. Good stuff...

matt! i bought revalver recently and was pretty dissapointed lately... now this gives me confidence!
really cool stuff.
this mix is so huge !!

please tell us what impulses you used ;-), would you ? thanks!

Thanks man! Yeah, I have not messed with Revalver until I got the EMGs. I love my passive pickups, but the actives seem to work better with the in-the-box tones, especially Revalver III. There's still something 'squishy' about it that I don't care for on individual tracks, probably from the power amp simulation, but when its quad tracked, it sounds really heavy. The guitars panned 100% L and R used a Recabinet impulse from the original Ghandi (mesa) SM57 grill on axis collection. Its bright and very bass heavy. The other two guitars panned 75% L and R is from the Ryan's collection (Catharsis presence S bright or something like that), and it sounds kid of muddy on its own. The two combined make a nice combo. I just set the Revalver 6505 just how I used to set my old 5150. Gain at 6, Bass 10, mids around 2, treble at 6, volume at 3, Resonance 10, Presence 9.

Awesome man - tone and mix is ace as usual, but I am very interested in this song - sounds like a new one!

No, I'm pretty sure it's been posted a long time ago. I think it was called "no name yet" at the time. It also had an awesome melody which isn't included in this specific clip.

Splatt: Please just make up your mind with the guitar tone god dammit!! They all sound good, we're waiting to hear the whole album.

This sounds incredible! Both the guitar tone and that snare sound GREAT!

Is this a news song by you? I don't think I've heard this one before. It's pretty cool!

Man, I wasn't able to get enough chunk from the 81 myself... I prefered the 85 even on my mahogany guitar.

sounds awesome man ,
i don't hear anything wrong with it , that kick is cutting though very nicely
,, what kick sample is that,,, it's not the Superior kick is it ???

Thanks! The kick is the only thing that's not DFHS 2.0. Its the Slate kick 10 z3.

@ all - Thanks for the comments! The song is not a new one, just working on the final mix. The very first (and shitty) mix without proper drum programming or anything is right here and its called Sand on Fire. There on vox on this original version.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead and finally posting again after lurking for a couple of years (some crazy shit in my life in the meantime), and Splat88 probably won't even see this, but this sounds fantastic. On the snare, are you using the muted articulation? I like the attitude of that snare, but I can't EQ the overpowering ring out of the normal center hits without sucking the life out it. Muted sounds pretty good with no EQ, but it doesn't have the same ambience that the center hits do in the room mics.

Also, when are you gonna finish the damn album???

:D
