i taught my first lesson yesterday and at one point during vocab this 9th grader said

"These words are too long to use all the time. 'Hey, I walked *fake English accent* tentatively down the hall.' ha ha ha ha!"

his friends concurred and expressed disgust that they were expected to use long words like that in everyday conversation, too.

p.s. this is the only white kid in any of my classes. and he looks like steve knopp with really baggy pants.

During 9th grade, I used tentaively all the time. Mind you, I would've been stuffed into lockers if it weren't for my shoulders being too broad and my having a foot on most of my peers.

no it was awful, and most of the reason i could recognize it as english was because he made his voice higher and wobbled his head from side to side as he said it.

he was actually addressing the real teacher (it was the part of the lesson where we both got up and moved around) so i couldn't say anything!
