I got the update of Revalver and decided to whip up a cover of a band i've been getting into lately. guitars are tube screamer > 6505/JSX > s-preshigh. i mixed with headphones and i kinda think its one of my better mixes so far, revalver seems to get me fuller guitar sounds than LePou lately and it seems to even out the low end compared to my previous stuff. but i still need to edit it a little more in the tracks as well.

oh, by the way, the first riff was just something i played off of the original, its not the same riff, just something i sorta thought sounded cool after the first time i heard it, other than that, i think i got the riffs pretty accurate.

what do you think overall?

That bass drop thingy at the beginning is a bit too loud and too long
guitars could get some more low end
kick is a bit too clicky to my ears and the snare sounds a bit muffled
toms sound really good IMO, what did you use for them?

if you're trying to match them:
you need some more bass in there. I don't even really hear the bass guitar.
the guitar tone is pretty spot on.
snare needs a little more crack.

also, I think you're in the wrong key/tuning. but that's not that important.

yea the lack of low end overall is probably due to using headphones, as that usually tends to happen. working with low end is my what i have the hardest time with. if i turn the bass up, itll mud up the mix and i havent quite developed a good ear for compression. and i actually thought the toms were the worst part of the mix haha but i always hate my toms, and tbh i cant recall which ones they were, i just have a big collection of samples that i throw in there. the ones im currently digging atm are the Blacklight toms, if i remember though, ill post it.

and im for sure going to fix up those bass drops. keep in mind this is only a rough mix, there still needs to be further editing, im just concerned about the guitar tone for now until i get the final mix up on here. also, the original song is written and played in dropped C minor i believe, but im playing it in dropped Bb minor, which does make a different when you try to A/B it haha. if the guitar didnt have a floating trem, i woulda just tuned up haha.

i know they use 6505s, which makes me even more angry that i am one of the ones who isnt allowed to use x50, and i still have a PC! >:[

the midi was created with Beatcraft, so you wouldnt be able to use your own samples. i could bounce each instrument individually, but with my cpu, that would take a couple of hours just for that. and the bass is a pitch shifted guitar. so i really doubt you want to take a shot at this haha unless you want the stereo drum file and bass(guitar) track.
