Yeah hes a awesome riffer and soloist. Too bad his guitarwork has deteriorated slightly since Dreaming Neon and PoE.

romeo's a great player no doubt, but loomis is hands down more gifted. his technical prowess is just amazing.

loomis has so much of an own style, some of the riffs and leads he creates are just plain weird in their awesomeness. the acoustic solo in Deconstruction is probably the most obvious example

Nevermore is very much a very highly skilled technical thrash/power type band. Its hard to campare to anyone because they have their own sound. Complex but not over the top. Warrell has a very unusual voice that may take time to get use to.
BUY DREAMING NEON BLACK then report back here on the double. THey are from Seattle and have been around for many years. They were first called sanctuary and dave mustaine played some guitar for them but that was MANY years ago. They broke up and formed Nevermore.
Beyond WIthin is a killer song dowload and enjoy. They have many other amazing songs though. Very tight very precise band even live. They are not one of my favorites but extremely good none the less. Youd be hard press to find a better American band. ANother good American thrash/power metal band is JAg PAnzer from colorado.

Jeff Loomis is a really stellar guitar player, his riffs are amazing. However, there has to be some other guitarist better than him. So, I can not agree with you on this. Just because you haven't heard anyone better than Jeff Loomis doesn't mean there isn't someone better than him.
Pig Destroyer is a good Thrash metal band from The States. I have their unreleased Terrifyer album and it is a really good album, about 3 1/2 to 4 stars.

I liked the new Borknagar and NAglfar albums. I actually have been listening to Marduk Wolrd Funeral alot lately. Its not so much Black metal but I liked the new Cradle of Filth alot, they are so hit and miss with most people but i still like them. The new Mayhem was pretty good. THeir are so many low profile black metal bands over there in swedenand Norway now days its hard to keep up with them.

Yes Pig Destroyer is def. Grindcore and yes the new Borknagar is excellent . Their last three albums I though have all been really high quality black metal. These guys write awesome stuff. Check out the new one man.
